Can you thrive without salt?
Our bodies require sodium to maintain an ideal electrolyte balance, the right hydration level, and other essential functions, but does that actually mean that we need salt?
Salt is actually something most of humanity didn’t have access to before 11,000 years ago, give or take, which is an eye blink in terms of human evolution.
It’s only recently that we started taking in large quantities of salt (sodium chloride). Before that, we did just fine consuming only the sodium found naturally in plant foods.
In this video, we talk about cultures that consume no salt, blood pressure, aldosterone, and whether or not we need to eat salt today.
