This video is about the fact that, as the raw dog food movement grows, many people are starting to ask if dogs fed a raw or natural food diet are receiving sufficient nutrition. It’s a good question because all raw food diets are not equal. The first thing to remember is that a raw food diet should replicate – as closely as possible – what a dog would eat in the wild. As dogs are a sub species of the grey wolf we know what this is: prey. Dogs also eat a small quantity of fruit and vegetables. So, when assessing a raw dog food diet ask yourself how close it is to what your dog would eat if you weren’t there to feed him or her? The best diets consist of between 40% and 60% raw meat, including the internal organs and around 30% raw bones. They should also have between 10% and 30% raw fruit and vegetables. Variety is also very important, as is the quality of the ingredients.
